ProquinXR Tough on the infection, gentle on your stomach

Your doctor may prescribe an antibiotic called Proquin XR if you have an uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI). Proquin XR kills the bacteria that commonly cause uncomplicated UTIs.

Some medications for treating uncomplicated UTIs can cause nausea and diarrhea. But Proquin XR has been proven to reduce the frequency of these side effects in the treatment of uncomplicated UTIs.

What is an uncomplicated UTI?
An uncomplicated UTI is a common bacterial infection of the urinary tract, without medical complications. It usually affects your bladder. Symptoms may include a frequent or urgent need to urinate, pain with urination, and urine that is cloudy in color, foul-smelling, or has blood in it.
Important Safety Information
Proquin XR is generally well tolerated. The most common side effects with Proquin XR include vaginal yeast infection and headache. Less common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, and abdominal pain.

Proquin® XR tablets should be taken whole and never split, crushed, or chewed. Proquin® XR should be taken with the main meal of the day. Proquin® XR is not interchangeable with other ciprofloxacin extended-release (Cipro® XR) or immediate-release (Cipro®) oral formulations.
